Entertaining and unself-conscious enough to stand the test of time, even if the puppetry doesn’t.
You can just see the „Fun for the whole family!“ review blurb on the VHS box at your local video store. And it is just that: a perfect, fun-for-the-whole-family movie about subterranean killer worms.
It captures the structure and speed of those ’50s sci-fi classics better than just about any other attempted update in this field.

IM LAND DER RAKETENWÜRMER
Die zwei Freunde Valentine McKee (K. Bacon) und Earl Bassett (F. Ward) leben in einem kleinen Wüstendorf in Nevada und halten sich mit Gelegenheitsjobs über Wasser. Eines Tages treffen sie auf die Seismologin Rhonda (F. Carter), die sich für die Erdbeben in der Region interessiert. Als die beiden Freunde wieder losfahren, pflastern immer mehr Tote ihren Weg, die auf mysteriöse Art und Weise umgekommen sind. Erst später erfahren sie, dass bestialische Würmer für die Toten verantwortlich sind und nur ein Mittel kann den Würmern Einhalt gebieten: Jede Menge Waffen.
Im Anschluss an den Film heißt es im KULA nebenan dann: Back from the grave! 2013 haben TREMORS ihre Band zu Grabe getragen. 10 Jahre später, wird sie für einen Abend exhumiert und mit Freude zur Schau gestellt. Wer sich dieses Oldschool-Deathmetal-Event nicht entgehen lassen will, sei hiermit zur Leichenschau im Kulturladen eingeladen. Unterstützt werden Tremors vom Singener Grunge-Urgestein Sourmash. Repairmen Val McKee (Kevin Bacon) and Earl Bassett (Fred Ward) are tired of their dull lives in the small desert town of Perfection, Nev. But just as the two try to skip town, they happen upon a series of mysterious deaths and a concerned seismologist (Finn Carter) studying unnatural readings below the ground. With the help of an eccentric couple (Reba McEntire, Michael Gross), the group fights for survival against giant, worm-like monsters hungry for human flesh.
